the crisis of credit visualized

Here’s a simple and intelligent animated film that explains in layman’s terms how this massive international banking conspiracy and Ponzi scheme came into play. If you don’t have a better understanding of the current situation after watching this film, chances are you willingly allowed this to happen to you and your family.

the union: the business behind getting high

It is very seldom that I come across an opportunity in which it allows me to utilize a spectrum of human emotions such as this film. There were many times when I laughed in pure enjoyment at how open minded the scientists, doctors, policy makers, activists and former high level law enforcement officials interviewed in this film, discussed how antiquated and archaic our Marijuana prohibition laws have become. Canadian filmmakers Brett Harvey and Adam Scorgie take us on an in depth journey of a well documented and balanced look into the world of Cannabis, its pros and for a lack of a better word, its cons, or lack thereof. As we’re moving towards the year 2010 and a soon to be legal solution, it is always a wonderful feeling to know that the reputable names and faces behind the legalization of Marijuana continue to appear in groundbreaking documentaries like The Union.

I have to admit that when Adam Scorgie interviewed Greg Cooper, a patient who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and Ataxia, I teared up not because of his obvious suffering but because of the thousands if not tens of thousands of patients who are pushed and lied to by Big Pharma into believing that their proprietarily synthetic and highly profitable drugs are the only solution to a patient’s physical ails. Make no mistake, the world of legalizing this natural plant is as complex as any other prohibition law the comes under scrutiny. In the the case of The Union, the film places all of its doubts, propaganda and common misconceptions into clear perspective to where the viewer is left to make up their own mind.

From the skillful editing of the well researched stock footage, to the animation, the actual interviews and its melodic original score, it is quite obvious why The Union has gone on to win several if not many film festival awards and garnered stellar reviews. No, you don’t have to be high and you don’t have to live your life as a stoner in order to enjoy this intelligent and passionate piece about the immoral war on drugs, the suppression of free energy by Big Oil, the unlimited resources for medicinal use, the benefits of taxation and the overall right to know the truth. The Union: The Business Behind Getting High deserves its place as one of the best up to date documentaries covering the subject. I highly recommend this incredible and though provoking film. Enjoy it. I did.

lost in a moment – Tokyo

What a great little find thanks to Digg. This film by Dennis Wheatley and Stefan McClean was simply shot as they were eating in a sushi bar in Tokyo. This piece of art literally teared up my eyes towards the end when I was thinking how music and images can bring many cultures together. I loved how the camera captured one of the most important parts of our everyday lives, eating. The musical track is ‘lost in a moment’ by ‘shrift‘, an electronica/down-tempo group out of the UK. I’m sometimes amazed at how a film that’s only 4 minutes and 56 seconds can capture and inspire the imagination that many modestly budgeted theater releases cannot. I really enjoyed this and I hope you do as well.

in bruges – it’s in belgium

I just saw In Bruges and I have to say that it really impressed me and Colin Farrell‘s performance was simply great.  As a fan of Farrell, I’m glad that his acting is coming into fruition with a passionate choice in solid scripts.  One quick little trivia to point out is that four actors in this picture co-starred in two other films together.  Both Farrell and Cirian Hinds worked on Miami Vice and Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Feinns play Alastor ‘Mad Eye’ Moddy / Lord Voldemort, respectively, in the Harry Potter series.

The story had me on a rollercoaster between quirky comedy mixed with some serious drama accompanied with clever dialogue.  Ralph Feinns had me on my ass with his British humor towards the end of the film when his character is having a beer and the gorgeously shot square in Brugge, West-Vlaanderden, Belgium.  Apparently, The Hollywood Foreign Press feels the same as they just gave out three Golden Globe nominations for Best Picture – Musical/Comedy and Best Actor – Musical/Comedy for both Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson.  These nominations are well deserved for two wonderful perfomances.  After the Globes come Oscar possibilities so, who knows?  Writer/Director Martin Mcdonagh is definitely no stranger to the Academy especially after his win in 2004 for the Oscar winning short, Six Shooter.  Man, could you imagine if Colin received an Oscar nod?

nwo champions

Well, we are now in the last stages of 2008 and after all of these years, it seems that people all around us are starting to take notice of a couple of things.  The video following the break not only displays a professional level of editing and effects but it also shows us how more of the mainstream mentality and psychology are starting to open up to the possibilities of immense governmental irresponsibility.

You may not agree with the filmmaker’s choice of visual accusations and allegations but the facts are the facts.  There is virtually no reason anymore to be uneducated and ignorant on the vast amounts of available information that lies beneath your fingertips.  I’m not here to play party favorites and lean towards either side but lies, corruption and manipulation are tools that are used to control the masses and so with that, I feel as though the world in its entirety is just tired of being afraid.  It gets to the point where fear becomes tiresome.  It’s just too much of an emotional investment and that’s when it becomes an exhaustive task.

Also, don’t forget to check out the filmmaker’s site over at matoatom.net. The site is very simple and minimalistic and it’s meant to direct the user to many of the great documentaries and reports that are scattered online. Enjoy.

2 girls 1 cup: the jerry ascione files

Update: This video is now private

By now, I’m sure that everyone across the globe is fully aware of last year’s viral phenomenon that ended up in most people’s porcelain gods or maybe that little aluminum trash receptacle under your desk that you purchased from Target. This shit was so funny filming it. Jerry had no clue what he was in store for.  But then out of the clear blue sky, He decides to dig in and go for seconds.  You dirty freak!

don’t mess with the bull young man, you’ll get the horns

I have never watched a single episode of The Family Guy but I honestly have to say that their Star Wars homage, Blue Harvest, was an extremely funny and tantalizing experience. Laughing out loud didn’t even come close to the near tears of comedy that were precipitating from the rebellious corneas and transmitted from the depths of the limbic system. I consider myself pretty knowledgeable on Star Wars trivia and I have to admit that the pacing of the story, shots and reference points were mostly right on for an animated take on the legendary film.  It was an excellent transition of a spoof that somehow morphs into pure originality and at times you forget you’re watching a parody. producer, director, patriot and truth advocate Aaron Russo passes at 64 after long bout with cancer

Aaron Russo
February 14, 1943 – August 24, 2007

With your death, comes life and truth from the path you have paved for our future. I’ve learned more than I already knew about the issues mentioned in America: From Freedom To Fascism and your film has brought an awakening to the many minds in which I helped seek the truth. Thank you Aaron Russo for your passion. And as Eddie Murphy’s character in Trading Places, Billy Ray Valentine would say: “I can see! I can see! I have…I have legs.” Continue reading ‘producer, director, patriot and truth advocate Aaron Russo passes at 64 after long bout with cancer’

the devil’s egg

Looking deeper into the eyes of the people of Sierra Leon or what’s allowed by the careful editing from The Discover Times Channel’s three part series Diamond Road, I can sense the pain and exhaustion of the country’s diamond diggers. It’s amazing to see the life and road of a stone from muddled rock to a “precious” or “flawless” diamond reserved to and for elitist. Continue reading ‘the devil’s egg’
