Finally! I thought that this was going to be shelved for at least another week because of the delay over this past weekend. The voice recognition software is about 90 to 95 percent accurate but it’s too early to judge so I’m sure a couple of more updates will bring it closer to Star Trek capabilities. The trick is to speak clearly and somewhat slowly as I found that there are a couple of words that require some careful pronunciation but it can only get that much more awesome from here on out. It is now going to be really hard for anyone to try and bullshit you in any situation. Make sure you go ahead and arm yourself by getting it right here. Oh yeah, iPhone only, sorry. Enjoy!

In the world of gadgetry there’s patience and acceptability and then there’s downright ridiculousness. When I purchased my iPhone 3G a little over a month ago, it already came bundled with the latest software update so it’s not like I had some experience on how Safari behaved prior to 2.1. What I do know from various articles and the occasional Apple fan-boy forums is that now more than before, it’s a serious problem.
For being one of the most reveled phenomenons since man’s quest for fire, the invention of the wheel, the parting of the sea and the crash in Roswell, the iPhone’s browser is really not living up to its advertised promise. Let’s not even get started on those trendy commercials that show the user browsing the “full web” at near broadband speeds. Or the ASA’s (Advertising Standards Authority) response in pulling those iPhone ads. Now that the world is well over a year into our iPhone glory, there is still many irritations that prevent our precious little handheld from becoming truly prefect. Or at least close to it. Oh, I don’t know, copy and paste comes to mind? A more reliable browser? And what’s up with the trend of simple and popular sites making their pages mobile friendly? Wait a minute, I thought that the iPhone could browse the “full web”? Maybe those folks over at the ASA know something we don’t.
I’m beginning to think that the iPhone 3G is not really much of a hard hitting technical improvement over its predecessor besides the addition of 3G and a plastic finish. It sports the same processor and identical internals plus a nifty App Store but at the end of the day, I think that some consumers and hard core technophiles are still on the fence until we see a truly revamped and juiced up third generation iPhone. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful for Apple’s infamous quality control and constant software updates for their entire product line-up but why can’t we have the simple and basic features that legions of crappy phones already come equipped with? Why can’t we have the choice of installing different browsers like Opera* or Firefox*? If Apple won’t welcome some healthy competition from some third party browsers then they must absolutely improve on their 1 out of 3 main advertised features. I know, I’m digressing, so I’ll leave you with some MacRumors forum rants here. Enjoy, while we anxiously await for 2.2!

I may be somewhat late on this but I just couldn’t help but to notice this FOX News store inside Houston International at around 5:50 am. I didn’t walk inside but at a quick glance, one can notice that most if not all of the publications sold are either owned, operated or have some affiliation with News Corporation.
