i dig it

I just picked up my second paid app in the App Store since owning my iPhone. I Dig It from InMotion Software, LLC. is a nice throw back on the likes of the classic Dig Dug in which you’re a farmer trying to save your land from the New World Order, corrupt, gangster organization, mafia bankers who are trying to seize hard working Americans. Okay, I kind of got carried away there and now you know how I feel about the international banking system but you get the gist of it. You play farmer Lewis who has converted an old bulldozer into a high tech digging machine designed to collect rare underground items and precious gems along with the help of his wife. Plenty of duties including fuel management, temperature control, and hull damage keep you alert while returning to the farm to trade in your treasures for cold cash. From here you can save your cash to pay for the mortgage, upgrade your digger with better radar, bigger cargo bay, high tech temperature gauges, stronger hull and drills, larger fuel tanks for longer trips, clever power ups like dynamite and 1 ups or just make simple repairs. The controls are very smooth, the upgrades and customizations to your vehicle are constantly being upgraded through the developer but I wish it had a soundtrack to go along with the gameplay. Achievements are nice and you can also log on through Facebook Connect. It’s on sale for a limited time at $0.99 which is not bad at all for a solid little gaming title. For me to pay for an app speaks volumes because I’m still stuck with the mentality that great games will eventually be offered free of charge. Not entirely so. You’ll get your money’s worth with I Dig It. Check it out in the App Store here. Game on.
