I just saw In Bruges and I have to say that it really impressed me and Colin Farrell‘s performance was simply great. As a fan of Farrell, I’m glad that his acting is coming into fruition with a passionate choice in solid scripts. One quick little trivia to point out is that four actors in this picture co-starred in two other films together. Both Farrell and Cirian Hinds worked on Miami Vice and Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Feinns play Alastor ‘Mad Eye’ Moddy / Lord Voldemort, respectively, in the Harry Potter series.
The story had me on a rollercoaster between quirky comedy mixed with some serious drama accompanied with clever dialogue. Ralph Feinns had me on my ass with his British humor towards the end of the film when his character is having a beer and the gorgeously shot square in Brugge, West-Vlaanderden, Belgium. Apparently, The Hollywood Foreign Press feels the same as they just gave out three Golden Globe nominations for Best Picture – Musical/Comedy and Best Actor – Musical/Comedy for both Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson. These nominations are well deserved for two wonderful perfomances. After the Globes come Oscar possibilities so, who knows? Writer/Director Martin Mcdonagh is definitely no stranger to the Academy especially after his win in 2004 for the Oscar winning short, Six Shooter. Man, could you imagine if Colin received an Oscar nod?
