This is Inside XBOX’s exclusive preview of Call Of Duty Black Ops features.
Stephen Merchant the genius other half behind The Office and HBO’s Extras has joined the cast of Valve’s highly anticipated Portal 2 as the voice of Wheatley. I seriously cannot wait for this game. Having recently completing the first Portal, I can only imagine the technological advancements and story developments that Portal 2 will adopt. Enjoy the trailer for now. Remember to watch it in HD.
With every article that surfaces for Call of Duty: Black Ops, I’m getting more excited and looking forward to my first Treyarch experience. I know that they have a lot to live up to in order to fill Infinity Ward’s shoes but they are now a fully committed studio to the COD franchise. The Bitbag just posted an update as to what’s brewing with CODBO before the so called surprise “Full Multiplayer Reveal” on September 1st. Beta anyone?
What’s better than reddit and imgur? The ability to upload images directly to both sites from OSX’s menu bar via Nate Stedman’s Imgup. I can’t tell you how many times I would want to upload a pic but dread going through the extra steps. This is no longer is the case! When you install this, make sure you make this as one of your login items. System Preferences> Accounts> Login Items> and add it to your queue. Visit Stedman’s blog for the latest download.
I just ran into this code to embed HTML5 YouTube videos on your site. Now all mobile platforms that don’t render Flash like all iOS4 devices and the like can load in HTML5 with no hiccups. What’s cool about the iPhone’s behavior is that it doesn’t need to launch its native YouTube App and therefore load the clip immediately in Safari. Just replace VIDEO_ID with your clip’s ID. It’s the sequence of characters in the URL that begin after the equal (=) sign and before the ampersand (&) sign.
Just scroll down to see my embedded videos that are already coded out this way. If you see the HTML5 logo in the video’s control menu, then it’s working. There are still several clips on YouTube that are not encoded in H.264 and will therefore load in Flash. It’s only a matter of time before YouTube makes this the norm. Here’s to another win for the HTML5 standard!

I love video games. I really do. I’ve been gaming since 1982 with the Atari 2600 and all the way up until now. I subscribe to no camp when it comes to silly fanboy-ism so with that, I set out to own all current consoles. Currently, most of my gaming is spent on the 360 for their robust LIVE experience although PSN is adding great features with every software update. Yesterday’s Xbox 360 E3 presentation was interesting but as a core gamer, it left me out in left field feeling lost and a bit quizzical.
Nintendo has indeed revolutionized the way we game on the Wii and in the process introduced casual video games to the masses. Since the Wii’s debut, many core gamers are still on the fence with motion controls so why is Sony and Microsoft moving towards this arena? Again, it is clear that quarterly earning demands and Wall Street hype has driven the PS3 and 360 into gaining your grandparent’s trust. Hellmode put it best when reviewing Micorsoft’s Kinect presentation. Sometimes you won’t find this kind of rant from a mainstream gaming blog but these guys are set out to freely express a true gamer’s feelings about our beloved industry. Shit, who knows? Maybe second-gen titles for the Kinect will impress us enough to drop another $150 on a peripheral.
In 2008 I remember playing the first installment on the xbox 360 but I just couldn’t get over the many control quirks that resulted in an uneven combat, dodgy camera, ridiculously difficult UI and other game mechanic bugs that came with The Force Unleashed. Judging by the endless forum posts and negative gaming blog reviews, I wasn’t alone. Fast forward two years and a lot has happened in game design that we can now look at The Force Unleashed 2 with new eyes. LucasArts acknowledged players’ frustration with the first game’s targeting system, and worked to revise it in the sequel. Developers said fixing the Force grip feature was their top priority. TFU2 will also include fewer enemy types, instead focusing on making enemies more “‘special and unique’” and “epic” boss battles. A big difference from the first installment is the fact that the sequel will portray lightsabers as they were in the Star Wars films, that is, being able to dismember an enemy, something most Star Wars games do not contain. I really look forward towards this title and can’t wait until we see some gameplay at E3 tomorrow! Until then, enjoy the trailer.
On a personal note, I believe Rosie O’Donnell‘s public stance on 9/11 and the comments that she made on The View were the nails in her coffin which led to her termination by ABC. Despite what the official press release from both parties were, Disney executives were not about to continue employing a major celebrity speaking against the government’s official story behind the events of September 11, 2001. Rosie was on the air five days a week on a powerful network and viewers and audience members were starting to pay close attention to what she was saying.
